Mend Smeg Week Problem Going

smeg timer?

We went away for a week (before which there was no problem) and since we've been back the timer has continuously been going round by itself making an intermittent (every 3 seconds) mechanical fast ticking noise. It must be electrical. Is there a way to stop it without affecting the oven on/off switch which is operated with the same dial?
