Ford Escort Problem?

shifter is stuck in park, was stuck two times before but came out both times.

I had similar problem on my f focus I was told that if I press what looks like a rubber stopper on the door lock(the one thats on the car body not the door) six times in 4 seconds this might reset the c locking system it may work for you.
