ZANUSSI WASHING MACHINE, MODEL FLE 1016W?

Hi, My Zanussi Washing Machine was recently moved and will not work. I can select the programme as normal, the lights all light up correctly, the door light comes on and stays on. This should not come on until the machine has started. I now have clothes stuck in the machine, I have tried cleaning the powder drawer, cleaning the filter, turned it on and off, checked the water at the back, any other ideas what I could try. Incidentally, I did manage to open the door with a piece of string, the machine gave a couple of clicks, as I thought I had my problem sorted, I closed the door but I'm back to square one and cannot reopen the door. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
