hoses be coming from the radiator?

No, not directly. the ones to check are about half the size of the radiator hoses and go through the bulk-head to the rear of the engine and should feel warm after 5-6 mins of ticking over. Also, if your radiator top hose is still cold after 8-10 minutes its the thermostat stuck closed and is faulty. The thermostat housing to the front of the engine, about the size of a fist, silver alloy colour and has one rad hose connected to it.unbolt it and lift out the 'stat.make sure new one is correct rating and is re-fitted correct way round. Still doesn't explain why no heat in cabin, possibly an air lock if there's no blockage, but you'll have to bleed the system anyway after replacing 'stat if you need to do that. Good luck.
