I cannot seem to connect my BUSH VCR up to Sky?

Yet again another Video Recorder question... Here is a question which is baffiling me...I dont understand why I cannot record programs/films from Sky. I can playback videos through Sky, but like I said, I cannot record. Can anyone understand why? (Unfortunatly, I do not know of the recorder's model. All I know is that it's make is BUSH.)

Connect the Sky box first Scart ocket (labeled TV ) to TV AV1 Scart Socket. Sky will now be on AV1.

Connect the the VCR's first Scart socket to the TV's AV2 Scart Socket. The VCR is now on AV2.

Connect the second Sky Scart Socket (maybe labeled VCR) to the remaining Scart Socket on the VCR. Use that input to record off Sky.
