JUST ANSWERING MY OWN QUESTION. BEHIND THE DOOR IS A BIT OF PLASTIC ROD POINTED EVEN THOUGH IT DOESNT LOOK WORN. I PUT A SCREWDRIVER INSULATED INTO HOLE TO SIMULATE DOOR SHUT AND HEY PRESTO IT WORKS. THEN I TOO A CAP OFF A BOTTLE OF SUPERGLUE AND PUT IT ON END OF POINT. PROBLEM SOLVED. HOTPOINT CTD40 DRYER
