vw sharan tdi 98?

water leaking from somewhere so ive been topping up approx every two days with anti freeze just as the light started flashing. Also noticed water on bonnet lid most likely because of water being sparyed upwards from leak. Today cranking rattle type noise sounding and engine overheating,water topped upagain but still making noise?
