Mend Water Combi Times

thermostatic shower occasionally releases a shower of water for no reason?

i have a thermostatic shower fed from the combi. at various times of day and night the shower will release water from the head from 3-5 secs. i have been advised that it may be that the pressure is too great exceeding the 3 bar for domestic premises and that a pressure valve onto the cold feed should sort it out...any further ideas
