difficulty locking upvc door?

hi, if i where you i do the following first
You need to have a look at the lock keeps and also
have a look at cut out around door barrel behind the handle to see if there is a problem .
check to see if the door and frame is square and adjust if possible via hinges .
adjust dead lock spindles and lock strikers if needed.

basically you need to mark every thing up looking from the outside with a pencil with the door in the locked position and close it towards the frame to see if there is any thing not cut out or not adjusted properly....

it took me a few hours to do mind , i right pain in the dark with a torch ............so dont do it in the dark . i has no choice as work shifts.

if you have flag hinges you can wind the door up with a 6 mm allen key in the bottom part of the frame fixed to the door and you can also wind the top of the door away from the lock with a 5 mm allen key on the front of the hinge fixed to the door

I think you will find one of the locking plates is out of line.As when you lift the handle and throw out the shoot bolts/hooks its not slotting in properly.What i would do is starting from the top remove the lock keep completely and try locking the door it the handle goes up nice and easy you know that lock keep is the problem and will need re-fixing to the frame very slightly up or down.Try all locking keeps and you cant go wrong.I suspect the door may have dropped slightly and why the locks are not in line,this is a bit more difficult to adjust so if the door still opens and closes ok shouldnt worry to much.Hope this helps.
