Peugeot 306 fuel rev counter and speedo fault?

hi when i switch the ignition on the rev counter and speedo needles go to maximum, then back to zero then stcik on maximum, the fule gauage does the same, have disconnected the battery and it ss still the same? any idea whats wrong? also the milometer is counting in seconds and the trip mileometer reads 300 miles for a two mile journey!
