Mend Heat Surge 600 Heater Heating Flame

What is causing the noise? Is it serious?

My heatsurge gives off heat and flame works after it is on for awhile, however, also after awhile it starts making a noise which I cannot identify, but turn it off for awhile. When I turn it back on it is fine for a time then the noise starts again. Any suggestions. I do have the new bulbs coming soon.
