VW golf wont start but turns over?

My golf just cut out as i was driving along. The engine turns over but there is no spark from the plugs. Distributor cap and rotor arm ok

just had exactly the same, there was spark from ht lead but not from plugs, it turned out to be the ignition amplifier which is built in the same unit as coil, so had to get new coil. this problem has baffled 4 mechanics over 2 weeks.. the car runs fine now.. hope this helps you
