Heating but no hot water - whats wrong?

We have heating but no hot water on Greenstar 28I Junior boiler. When looking at boiler all lights are normal and there are no signs of being a fault. Talked to a plumber who wants to order converter/divertor valve without evn looking at it. Don't want to pay for a part if its something someone else has experienced and is easliy fixed.
