Because the tape is stuck the TV/VCR, it is attempting to play the tape and that is shutting everything down. On a stand alone VCR player the solution is simple. You remove the cover and untangle the tape and then remove it. The player will operate normally after that. On your TV/VCR combination it will probably be more difficult to access the tape. If there appears to be a cover that you can remove near the VCR then remove it. It should be held in place by a few screws. UNPLUG THE DEVICE BEFORE YOU BEGIN AND BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS ONCE YOU REMOVE THE COVER. THEY CAN SHOCK YOU EVEN WHEN THE TV IS UNPLUGGED.
Once the cover is removed it should be a simple task to untangle the tape and pull it from the machine. The tape often becomes tangled around the pins or heads of the VCR. Once the Tape is removed the TV and the VCR should work normally. The challenge will be removing the cover of the TV/VCR combination. The VCR in these devices are often difficult to get to.
