How can I fix my oven?

I have a 1985 GE model JMP26G001. A couple weeks ago I was wiping it out and there was a small explosion and a fireball flew out and hit me. I think it was a piece of coating (teflon?) on what appears to be a temperature probe (looks like a sparkler) coming out of the right wall of the oven. Now when I try to bake the broiler element comes on at full power and the bottom element warms only slightly? Can you help?
