Wrong answer dumb A. The 917 model is a 4 stroke not a two stroke. Sears doesn't make 2 stroke mowers.

Use a 30W or 10-30W oil. Synthetic is good too.
Careful on the answers you get off the internet, there are real dumb A out there.

i think if you use a good name brand 2 cycle oil its fine but you shoul defenitly use 2cycle.
