noisey machine on spin cycle?

i have a hotpoint aquarius wma58 which has started to make the most horrendous noise when on its spin cycles.the machine washes ok and makes its normal wash sounds,pumps out ok,but you need ear muffs when the spin starts.Could it be the bearings that have gone?sounds like that. would you need any special tools to repair it,or is it an engineers job?
