Mend Alpha CB25 Combi Central Heating

alpha he cb25 combi boiler no hot water?

I have an Alpha HE CB25 Combi Boiler, the central heating works fine but after about 10 seconds of turning on a hot tap the red light (a) comes on and the boiler shuts down. To clear the red light I cannott use the reset position on the selector switch but have to turn the switch to off and then back to hot water/central heating HELP

The taps do have flow even tho' its cold water mainly
Can hear a fan whirring away so I assume its working
How do I check the flue thermostat or don't I?
The problem is the same even in Hot water Mode

time for the engineer..........

1. do the hot taps have water flow?
2. does the flue fan work?
3. there is a flue thermostat which may be faulty
4. with power isolated (off) check for loose wires - you never know.
5. does the boiler work in hot water only mode?
