How can I get my toshibas menu to stop going on its own?

My Toshiba 32" has great picture and sound. It is about 10 years old and has just started giving me a problem, the menu, including volume, brightness, timer, et al, starts going about 30 seconds after turning it on and doesn't stop. What can I do?
