Mend Sony Play Properly Tapes

sony vcr doesn't play properly?

I have an old very expensive when purchased, sony vcr.
It is almost like the tracking won't correct itself.
tapes won't play properly, and no sound. they run to fast. tracking manualy doesn't cure problem either.
