calortec heaters?

Can anyone explain how these heaters work. I purchased one from the Ideal Shopping Channel but the translation of the instructions from french to english are poor. (Ihave contacted the shopping channel 6 times) I used it for approx 7 hours then switched it off, half an hour later it was cold.

That's very clever of them, 10 year guarantee and 2 years on the controls, without the controls it's useless.

Is there anyone out there who is actually happy with the performance this heater?
Does it even come close to the outrageous claims that were made on Ideal World e.g. when the electricity is disconnected it continues to accumulate heat?

Hi Jackie,
I've noticed a few questions like this and have wondered whether the Calortec heaters in question were bought from Ideal World as I've been wondering whether to get one myself. I've watched all of the presentations and they always mention the "24 hours of heat for 6 hours of power" but I don't think they explain this very clearly at all. I remember one presenter on Ideal World saying you switch it on for 6 hours and you get 24 hours of heat which is very misleading. It's not like a night storage heater where you heat it up for 7 hours and it stays warm for most of the day. What they they are trying to say is that if you left the heater on for 24 hours it should only use around 6 hours of power during that period. In other words when you first switch it on it will heat the room up to the temperature you set it to. When it reaches that temperature it will switch itself off until the temperature drops then it will come back on again to top up the ceramic core, then switch off again and so on. I imagine the topping up lasts for about 15 minutes every hour.
I had a question for Ideal World and they took 3 days to reply and then it was to say they couldn't help so I should contact Calortec - not very helpful at all. They gave me an email address but I never got a reply.
I would be very interested to see if you have any better luck!

I think the direct answer to your question is "not very well."

I googled your question and came up with the following.
Yes you only have to plug them in and they are ready to work. The radiators are all equipped with there own thermostat and measure the temperature of the room. When you ask a certain temperature they will heat the room in a comfortable way, as they are real aluminium radiators, once the room is to the temperature level you feel comfortable about they stop to heat. There thermostat and temperature level is quiet accurate and easy in use. Do you know that the radiators can be installed within minutes and start to function directly! Also Calortec radiators have a 10 year factory guarantee on the radiator and 2 year guarantee on the electric controls!
Easy in use, easy to install and full comfort assured!
(THEY DO NOT STORE HEAT LIKE A STORAGE HEATER)
