what does fault code e4 mean in a hoover dishwasher?

E4 means there is water accumulating in the dishwasher, either because of a leak or because it is not draining properly.
Unplug the machine, empty it and tilt it back about 45 degrees to drain water (drain pipe is at the back). Then look for the leak.
When it happened to my brand new machine, it was because the drain pipe was bent and going up instead of down so some of the water was remaining in it.
