how to open rear door on 55 plate vw passat?

rear door on vw passat was frozen managed to get it open closed now it wont open child lock is on so cant open from outside or inside. Think it could be deadlock not coming off. How do you reset it?

whilst turning key in drivers door lock operate handle with one hand and get someone else to pull the the door handle on the door which is locked and keep repeating so the deadlock mechanism releases. it may take upto 25 times turning key and pulling on handles good luck
