Mend Fiat Ducato Fuel Fault Checked

Fuel Guage?

I have a fiat ducato 2.5tdi deisel.1996 I have got a fault on the fuel guage.I have checked the wiring and it seems to be ok. The needle on the clock dosen't register some times and then it will jump to 3/4 full then drop to 1/4.Is it something to do with the float or have i got a short in the wiring somewhere. thanks

Sounds like the sender unit in the tank usually special tool needed to undo the unit.
