Mend Maytag LA482 Washer Main Model

Must the washer on main pulley be aligned with something during reassembly?

My Maytag Model LA482 will not spin. Instead it agitates through he spin cycle. The main pulley recently fell off and I reinstalled it. I re-installed the lip on the washer against the cog of the wheel. Should it have been aligned with something?
