how can i fix my oven?

my hotpoint oven heats to full temperature regardless wot temp the thermostat is at, does anyone know how i could fix this?

how do you relace the element in the oven? i took the plate off the back and unscrewed the element, but it is then attached to the wires throught the back of the oven. bit worried i might electrocute myself1 advice welcome, thanks
