pilot light won't stay lit on thorn apollo?

I have had problems with a Thorn Apollo too. British Gas have taken 8 visits but have eventually fixed it. This was only after I called out an experienced plumber who diagnosed the need for a new Hi thermostat. Before this, BG had fitted 2 thermocouples, pump over run stat, and limit stat. To be fair to BG they did also fit a new lo thermostat for good measure. sorry mike and the mechanics for taking so long to reply to your answer. the boiler is a 30/50b. I tried your suggestion no joy with shorting the hi limit stat, when i took the pilot light ass to the spares place, he said that there was nothing wrong with it! A new gas valve, another thermo couple, a new pilot light ass later the boiler works!! (but only with the hi/lo switch set to low). The chap who came out to fix it said"it could be the hi/lo switch, or it could be an electrical fault which will mean a new boiler"! Any suggestions would be welcome

the interupter will be connected to a high limit stat, short out connectors to check if this works change high limit stat if not change gas pilot assembly
