I have a petrol flymo l 300 the ignition is not working ?

I have romoved the spark plug from head and on turning over the engine had no spark. How reliable are these units? what other way could I test this unit using a multimeter and if found faulty,where could i get a replacment. the unit is made by Phelon and one piece. I have tested the cut out switch and is ok
