Mend Overflow House Tank

What is causing my overflow pipe to drip now ive turned on the heating?

I have recently turned on the heating in my 3 bed house. Since doing so the smaller tank in the loft(the other is twice the size) is filling up and water is dripping out of the overflow pipe by the roof line at the back of the house. I thought it was caused by the radiators needed bleeding, this done it stopped....but it might have been a fluke as 3 days later it started again.....and is still dripping???????

It may be that the ball valve is set too high so that it is filling the tank close to the overflow pipe. When you put the heating on the water expands into the tank and goes out of the overflow. When the system is cold the header tank should be around a third full.

Maybe there is a leak in the heating coil within the hot water
tank. If so, then a new hot water tank is required.

either replace the washer or the whole ball valve straight forward job just remember to turn the water off no need to drain the tank or turn off the heating. hope this helps
