Mend Mercury Grand Marquis Engine Temperature Sensor Cold Start

My 1990 grand marqis keeps stalling at an idle ?

My engine stalls when its cold and I replace the temperature sensor unit and it still isn't working. It runs fine when it is warmed up. When its cold it runs fast at an idle and stalls out.
