Mend WhiteKnight 767c House Switch Blow

My WhiteKnight condenser767c is blowing house fuses!?

Every time I switch the drier on all house fuses blow
also when I moved the machine I found a funny screw thing under it...screw thread on both ends and it seems to have a switch mechanism on one end. Also as I tipped it, water came out of the machine.
I tried to reset the machine, (managed to puncture rubber trying to feel the button under it!) but there is no "click" suspect my mysterious screw thing may be reset button!
Help!!

My condenser is doing the same. Took the casing off and the element was broken. This is the long spring like thing above and to the right of the motor.

Just about to buy a new one. will let you know how I get on.
