Mend Main Bristol Boiler Getting Off

Main Bristol boiler getting hot the turning off?

Hi
Can anyone help ? Ive got a Main bristol boiler
and when i turn the hot tap on it gets very hot for about 3 mins then turns off so the water comes out cold. anyone know what to do
