Mend Bike Start Compression

valve adjustment on cr250f?

My bike will not kick start, as it feels as if it has hardly any compression. But it has only recently been rebuilt. You can push start it and it rides like a bat out of hell. I was thinking it could be the valve adjustment. Because it back fires when it is kicked. Or could it be the de-comp valve in the head, staying open and letting compression out. im lost and need help, i don't trust bike shops. Please help. It is a CRF 250 04'

My 2006 CRF250 had the same problem! It was because the valves got to tight. You are going to need to adjust the valves because is most likly the problem. Once you adjust the valves back to specs the compression is a lot better.

i work for a bike shop but i wouldnt say they are all ok and some rip u off and give out bad info and do bad jobs so i know what you mean, anyway look at the answer i gave to the question above you on the list hope it helps,it could be the de compressor but its unlikely try moving it with your fingers to see if its stuck in one postition if it is then it could well be that if u can move it though it will always go back to its resting position which doesnt interfere with the valves unless you use it,if its joined to the kickstart via a cable then try disconnecting the cable to see if that helps u its not that hard to start a xr 250 without using the decomp anyway try a 650cc one if you want hard lol they are a bitch ok good luck ,adam
