Why is my GE Profile freezer getting warmer by the minute? ?

There were icicles and a frozen puddle in the bottom of the freezer. I cleaned it out and turned off the ice maker. In the fridge side there is a digital degree indicator that is set at 0 degrees but it is getting warmer and warmer. It was at 2 degrees about an hour ago and is at 6 degrees now. What is the problem? Is this going to cost me an arm and a leg?
