Thomson Dt1600 recording failure?

Every feature works ok until I press record, either from guide or to pause live tv. It will store the program to record but when program starts the recording is removed and a message sent says recording failure. Have tried a reset and lost all programs from the library but the info says I have only 46% memory left, and that's after a re-format too. HELP
