Mend Nissan K11 Clutch Pedal Noise

how can I stop clutch cable creaking on nissan Micra k11?

when the clutch pedal is pushed down a creaking from near the clutch lever is heard. sprayed wd40 but this only fixes problem for about an hour then noise returns
