Scunci Steamer Model SS-1000?

I had to have my brother turn the cap, I wasent strong enough (First time trying to use it) next step is to pull up to remove the cap and we cant get it off. Have thought about putting oil around it but afraid of messing it up. Can anyone help/tell us how to remove the cap so we can add water etc.?
