I lost the remote control SONY VCR,How to stop SP timing from TV?

I have a VCR Sony SLV-700 HF. I lost the Remote Control and since then I can not stop the SP timing from appearing on the screen. What can I do to stop that. is there something I can unplug or cut off. I have never and will not use this stupid thing. I really do not understand why those called engineers puts something on the remote control and does not gives the option to work the same on the VCR.

I dont mean to sound nasty, but who cares? You might need it if you dont want to lose you position on the tape.

Perhaps you don't understand the constraints that engineers are under when they design things. In this case real estate to put switches on the box itself.

I think that you need a new remote from Sony in order to fix this.
