My vac started to make a funny noise whilst I was using it and then I could smell burning, what would the problem be? can it be fixed and how expensive?
Thanks
Donna - as Danny says it could be that something is stuck on the brushbar. Have a look for any obstructions around there.
If not I expect it's the motor. The brushes only have a finite life and when they wear out it will make a noise. Dyson can do a full service on your machine for £69 (including replacing the motor if necessary).
If neither of those things are the problem try asking on the unofficial Dyson forum: www.dysonforum.com

You may have something stuck around the brush bar like a shoe lace or you could have accidentaly sucked up an hair clip which is a problem and this will be causing friction and the burning smell. i think you will probably need a new brush bar now which will cost about £15
