how do i remove tap cover from single monoblock mixer tap?

how do i remove tap cover to monoblock? after removing grub screw and surclip from top brass tap fitting. cover does not come off.

Just need to give it some welly dan to get it off the splines. Couple of biggish screwdrivers to lever under it should do
