Jeep Grand Cherokee C-D player?

I have just installed an Alpine s630 C-D player in the above motor. All I am getting is a clicking noise from the player after loading a full cassette. It is comming from the small black block in the bottom of the Changer, that seems as if it should transport the carrier across. Is there something else I am not doing
