Mend Proscan PS36600 Sound Noise Told

I too have proscan tv, model#ps36600. The last few weeks the volume will go up and down. Now I have no sound. Only a hissing noise. Any ideas how to fix this? Someone told me that I may need to resoldered the motherboard.. Any true in that??
