Mend Potterton Boiler Heating Pipes

potterton boiler?

When I switch the boiler on for some hot water,the boiler lights and stays on for a while.The pipes from the boiler get hot and then it starts making some banging noises.When I turn the hot water taps on the water is running cold...can anyone advise please Alan
