I left a tape in my vcr for a little too long and?

my vcr finally made a loud, squealling (if that is spelled correctly), noise! I love this vcr and I have had it for quiet some time but now when I put a tape in to watch the vcr it doesn't want to play it! Any advice you can give me is greatly wanted and appreciated! Thank you! :)

Keith,

1) Just the one L in squealing
2) Love is too strong an emotion to direct to a VCR
3) You might consider...

Put the VCR on a table and remove the top cover - you don't need to connect it to anything other than power - not to the TV. Put a tape in and see what happens when you press Play.

Closely observe the loading and running mechanisms and look for the cause of the problem.

There may be s simple fix like cleaning away a bit of dust or a foreign object like a torn off label from a cassette. This may not solve your problem but it's a half hour job at no cost to you and could save you both heartache and money...

Good luck...
