HOW DO REPLACE A SMEG OVEN ELEMENT?

***MOST IMPORTANT MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF..PLEASE..****. remove the shelves firstly. then
both side panels have to be removed + the upper cover for the grill if fitted. The cover at the back has a knob which is at the bottom on the right. the knob has a slot that can be taken off with a large screwdriver remove the cover to reveal the element. 2 screws (1) at the top (1) at the bottom will diconnect the element from the oven casing. as with previous answer make sure you use the correct size philips screwdriver. (if the screw is tight tap it VERY lightly with a small hammer whilst turning) this should work as it did for me. now just make sure when you take the connections off that they do not slip into the cavity. connect as they came off. if connections are loose pinch together with pliers. refit the element. fit the cover back and see if it works before you refit the rest. good luck should save you a few quid..

I have the same problem with the rear heating element on my Smeg oven. It has been replaced twice in about 6 years, so I thought I would do it this time myself and save the cost of a repair man. It was easy to take off the top and side panels and expose the fan and rear heating element. But the phillips head screws on the rear heating element are jammed tight. I have had to drill one of them out. Unfortunately a piece of broken drill bit is jammed in the other screw. This does not seem the correct way to do the job.
If you have solved your problem please post the answer as I need the same help.
