how can i fix hanhbrake on 1996 mgf?

tryed to adjust driver side handbrake? dose not want to work.if you apply foot brake at time of applying hand brake then the handbrake works. if you just apply handbrake then only the passenger side works.have bleed all the brakes and still dose not work? can any body please help? thanks tom
