potterton netaheat 10-16 wont light?

10 16 neta heat sparks with pilot but will no go to main flame

My Potterton Netaheat is 21 years old and since having it serviced in Nov. 2010 I have been having problems with ignition when cold.
The fan comes on but switches of after two seconds so the pressure switch does not kick in. After about ten goes there is a click and the boiler ignites.
Why should the fan cut out after two seconds when cold? Everything works OK after boiler warmed up.
The engineer has replaced the pressure switch but the fan cut out is puzzling.
Anyone had the same problem?

The boiler should not light with the cover off as this means that carbon monoxide will be escaping into your room. The air pressure switch should prevent this from happening so there is a fault there but probably more beyond that. Best to get someone who knows what they are doing to look at it.

Thx to you both for your advice money is a bit tight at the moment hence the need to try and sort it myself.
I have changed the pcb but the problem still remains, any other advice would be much appreciated

I have copied this from the potterton netaheat 10-16 user manual.

START... time control on boiler thermostat calls for heat.
RELAY contacts close (visual) fan starts (listen).
AIR PRESSURE SWITCH contact closes (listen).
SPARK starts (listen)
SOLENOID opens (listen)
If aps switch operates but no spark check H.T lead and electrode for tracking,cracks,dampness etc.
If ok suspect electrode.

The PCB can be obtained from e-bay as a part exchange item, it is relatively cheap so might be worth buying.
The fact that you have had it working with the cover off leads me to think that you are not suffering with a gas problem, it is electrical, aps, fan, electrode etc make sure your fan is working fast enough.

The Netaheat is Designed NOT TO WORK WITH TRHE COVER OFF!!!

You should get a RGI to attend to this problem as it is beyond the scope of DIY
