How can i fix a cracked purlin?

I have a cracked purlin in my roof, a surveyor has said it needs strapping, what does he mean by strapping?

Cheers Levi wasn`t sure if a metal strap was available or timber was fixed both sides of the purlin.

basically its a metal strap which needs to be fixed either side of the crack on all sides.
nothing major.

try googling it
it is a support in your roofing system, which needs to be fixed.
Dont fix it, over time might sag.
Get some supports from a DIY shop
