Mend Burn Windows Media

can't burn audio cd's?

Has worked all along but all of a sudden everytime I try to burn a cd I get this message " Windows Media Player encountered a problem while burning the file to the disc. For additional assistance, click Web Help". And so I've tried the suggestions at web help and still no possible way to burn. I can play and listen to my music files but desperatly want to be able to burn again. Is there a fix it download? Please advise. Thank you.

The previous helper has given good advice. When you ask for help, always specify your operating sytem plus some details of your hardware. It will eliminate some of the guesswork that is involved in answering queries.

I find that Windows Media Player is good for playing audio CDs but not much else. Beg borrow or st**l a copy of Nero if you can. Version 6.6 is my confirmed choice for XP, but check the later versions if you are running Vista or Windows 7.

Sorry if this sounds very basic, but some of my customers have had your same problem - easily fixed when I replaced their CD or DVD player with a new burner! And although it is quite possible to add files to a disc that has been previously burned (multisession), in your case I would go for brand new blank CDs.
I hope this helps.

If you have Vista or System 7 I'm not sure if it will be the same as XP as I still use XP. If you have tried to burn CDs and ended up with a disk that has no music or possibly your problem try this: Go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "Administrative Tools"...then hit "Services". Go down the list until you see "Imapi CD-Burning Com Service". Look under the column "Status" and see if it says "started". If not, right click once on it and hit "start". Now, try again and see if that worked. If not, post back here and describe your steps. This service doesn't start up for me even though I have it set to "automatic" and I have to manually start it as described above. Did you get "Nero", free version with your computer? If so, try it instead of Windows Media.
