When it makes the noise push your foot down on the clutch. If this stops the noise then it is more then likely gearbox or clutch related problem. Listen to the noise it will tell you what it is. Does it get worse when motor working hard? ie going up hill or accelerating? does it rise and lower in pitch along with the engine revs? It coud be a simple thing like a loose bolt somewhere causing vibration. open bonnet and have a good look at all the nuts clamping things onto engine bay. If you think it is gearbox first check gearbox oil. lack of oil in gearbox or differential will cause such type of noise. You may need professional help to do this. or suggest buying haynes manual. or ask local mechanic on his lunch break. bring him a cake.
